It just needs the BMS reset to zero throughput, it's mainly German stuff that insists on inspecting your 'papieren'... It makes no difference to the car or it's operation, it's purely for keeping track of components, you could enter the exact same details as the one you remove but increment the serial by +1. The throughput monitor will have an effect on autostop and other systems though if it's not reset as it also monitors volt-drop and calculates battery ageing based on those parameters.

You bought a hugely expensive OEM car - why do you not want to repair with OEM parts.

I know - you can manually input the barcode alphanumeric though, and just change the final digit if your replacement battery isn't a VWG approved and marked one. Obviously it needs to be of the same type and capacity otherwise you could damage the new battery, your car or both....

Sadly I do not seem to be an eccentric millionaire like yourself. I have repaired vehicles since I was 14, I don’t mind paying a reasonable price for spare parts but most major brands take a lend.
The one make of car I have never owned is a Ford anything.

It's nothing to do with envy.
It's more about buying an expensive car, then expecting to able to run and repair it on the cheap.
The way I see it, you've already paid Terraclean £120 to 'fix' your car, it's not fixed it, yet you're happy to spend another £80 to get them to 'fix' it again, which inevitably won't actually fix it.
That £200 would likely have paid for a good independent to actually diagnose, and pay some of the cost of actually fixing the car.

If I had gone to my local LR dealer they charge £100 per hour (I made that mistake several years ago) + a further fee to put it on their diagnostics.
Terraclean are an independent company who advertise a specialist service offering Dpf diagnostic & repair services.
Since when has being thrifty (or running it on the cheap as you put it) been a crime.
I have my own welder, lathe + numerous other tools are you implying that I shouldnt use them but pass the jobs out to a ‘professional’
Innumerable third party garages & owner repairers use pattern parts to fix all manner of vehicles. Long may it continue.
It’s not long ago that major manufacturers were seeking to get vehicle bonnets ‘sealed’ to prevent anybody other than manufacturers dealers accessing under the bonnets RonA

I'm not disagreeing here, however, you do need to spend on diagnostic kit that will give you the information you need to determine where the cause of the fault lies. A fault code reader that will give you live data is going to be £500 minimum, coupled with things like a MityVAC, smoke tester, etc. you're heading towards £750-1k for a particular concern. That would buy a lot of diagnostics (including 'free' experience) at a good indy. I don't do my own plumbing - I could, but I'd rather earn the money to pay one knowing that getting it right is their problem and I don't have to keep buying kit for every different job.
It's difficult for me to quantify the kit I use day-to-day for similar concerns as it's 'just there', I don't want to dissuade anyone from working on or diagnosing problems with their own vehicles, sometimes it needs more than a multimeter and ideas from some blokes in the internet, I can though imagine that some would spend a few hundred on bits of kit as they incrementally get into chasing the fault down various rabbit holes to find it's (for example) poor pin grip on a connector that costs £5 to sort but they've spend ten times that to prove it wasn't everything else.

Thank you for your (problem centred) suggestions clearly the costs of the diagnostic hardware is a little off putting.
I agree seeking information from the internet can be a double edged sword but this forum is an excellent example of people passing useful information (mostly) to others who would probably never ever meet.
Many years ago I was working (not owning) on a friends Ford Orion he had recently had it in an independent fuel injection specialist because of rough running. The independent’s opinion was the mass flow sensor needed replacing.
Before splashing out on a new sensor he asked me to take a look.
As a start I looked on net & found an article which mentioned that Ford mass flow sensors (unlike those of most other manufacturers) did not a self clean function on the hot wire anemometer. After cleaning the ‘hot’ wire with Iso propyl alcohol, removing all the build up on it, normal running was restored.
I’m not taking credit for the fix but I wouldn’t have been aware (but clearly the independent wasn’t either) of the problem without the internet.

Dpf issues can be an **** to sort, I managed to fix the first one on my old transit with the help of the internet and mates snap on diagnostic to force 2 re gens, got 2 yrs before it reared its head again along with other related codes.
Took it to a diesel specialist of some 40yrs, new injectors, 3 days back on again, off to another, stretched chain, common at mileage I was at, new chain and sprockets replaced, back on again a week later, re Set faults and drove it for 5 months having to re set faults with bt obd reader and phone.
Fixed in the end by replacing the van

Having a decent selection of tools, a modicum of technical ability and an investigative mindset I prefer fixing my own cars than paying a dealer £100 an hour for part changing. Completely agree with RonA on that one. OEM parts are not necessarily any better than those made by other leading brands, they are often identical just not in (in this case) a Landrover box.

With no diagnosis software to check upstream and downstream pressures. Temperatures etc then could be fighting a loosing battle.
He has gotten hold of terraclean, well that all depends on the person you get as some of them are not much use.
If not able to diagnose then you may just end up fitting parts on a whim, hoping it fixes it.
