Could do something like this, just need a few hundred smoke alarms for the Americium-241 and build the diy version of this

Though mine will actually run on a diesel/petrol mix or kerosene and uses an 85mm tv8101 turbo.

Made up yesterday, afternoon, but delivered today.

Custom order, because none of the 25+ others were the right colour Typical.

Every year about this time we have our private sewage system (Klargester) serviced and the sludge pumped out. A few years ago their two big trucks managed to break one of my manhole covers, (which they denied having seen) so now I put traffic cones on them so there is no excuse. This year when placing the cones I noticed that two adjacent aluminium 'rodding eye covers' had been cracked at some time - probably not by them so I needed two new covers. I can buy the complete assembly for about £25 but NOT spare covers.

Handy having a CNC Plasma Table - turns out that the covers are true mathematical ellipses so easy to draw in Autocad - would have liked to cut them from 6 or 8 mm aluminium tread plate but none to hand, so the plate of 1/4" mild steel that was on the machine got used. A coat or two of cold galvanising will delay rusting a few weeks (!) but I'm sure they'll be fine for years.

The pot is measuring about 2-6% moisture so Im calling that good for a 3kw test later today. Trying it as a rod oven..

A few more bits done on my power hacksaw.

Mounting points welded on and 2 coats of red lead primer.

Then a disaster as I was putting it on the frame, cover repaired with super glue and belt fitted to the next pulley.

Major rewire of the control cabinet ( I can definitely say I've mastered swa glands done 10 of them). 90deg. elbows on the bottom and then cables trimmed to length.

Next job will be a hydraulic oil reservoir, them it will be working again (oil leaked when it fell off the frame).

I can’t get the Vickers nibbler close enough to the wall to hardwire it in so I stuck an appliance inlet on it so I use a gurt big extension lead.

The grind on the cutters was way off so I get them corrected but I need to buy a finer grade wheel for future sharpening.

Now with the correct shape ground in it chews through 1.2mm mild like it’s nothing so I guess the tin snips can take a break.

Testing has begun!

Temporarily using old blocks of perlite from my previous gas attempts. With the long element tails, its reduced to 3.2kw, but should be 3.7kw when done.

Quite happy with rate of heating.

Just a cheap easy roller made, thinking on making gas cylinder carriers and didnt want to pay out for a decent one so knocked this up for now.

Made my wee press better again after I abused it by trying to bend double the thickness with a reduced die, it started pulling up the base plate. So bored and tapped some 10mm steel and welded in place, will be much stronger but I will not overload it so much next time

Also used the CNC lathe for the first time in months, well that is not true as I have done loads of hauler plates but that is all, not done any threads for a long long time as mostly I have just used the manual lathe when needing any, not sure why as CNC is much quicker and easier

Turned some 40mm OD 316 down to 3/4" then put an M16 male thread on the end.

It is a fixing for a steering ram and will be welded to the steering rod at some point.

Made a little plate which should hold the topslide screw in place instead of it seizing up the dial on my mini lathe. Quite happy with how it turned out.

Setup with the G clamp was just to stop it from moving when it was completely cut free.
