If I cut it off obviously keeping it cool will the next chunk still be hard or is it likely to have a soft core to it

Im sure it can only be a casting error as having the face at an angle to the handle, regardless of the angle of what you are hitting makes the hammer very awkward to use and causes the head to bounce forwards or backwardsThey probably.drove stakes in at a angle so it did hit them square
