EA is probably keen to sell its wares on any reasonably secure platform because digital distribution (with or without DRM) prevents customers from reselling their games. More and more big game companies are becoming vocal about the used game market, which they believe is stealing their profits.

Piracy had been rife within pc gaming since the very beginning. Pc gaming is still thriving despite the **** poor practice of releasing betas as a finished product and patching it when the flack starts raining down. Or poor console ports that barely make use of the grunt most will have. Both the above hit sales hard during the period of the article you linked
Could you perhaps point me to a period of time when pc gamers have ever shown much interest in selling there games. Second hand game shops like cex/game sprung up thanks to consoles
