Miscellaneous stuff for sale section??

I know a few of us have adverts removed from the for sale section as they dont fit the criteria, many of us are at an age where we have hoarded "stuff that will come in useful one day" and have now decided its time to move it on, perhaps we could have a new section to cover other items?

Sorry, it's been asked for a few times over the years and it's still a no.
We allow contributing members to offload unwanted tools and workshop related stuff but there's plenty of other places to sell your household stuff.

Could they advertise it on eBay etc and post a link in a private section of the forum?

Or pay for the listing to support the forum?

Also less chatter in the sales section

I'm all for keeping it as it is as I suspect we'd be swamped with for-sale items, plus the occasional barney over in the for-sale area would expand to cover all of the toasters, cats and dining tables.


Facebook Marketplace is a pretty straighforward place to sell other things that's generally worked well for me.

Im not sure where the household stuff has come into the original question, just because ive worn out many toasters over the years ive not saved them to sell!

I was thinking more along the lines of all the contactors/starters/relays/overloads/MCBs etc i have saved over years of doing industrial electrical installations that may have
been of use to the good folks on here, many of us dont and wont use farcebook

I asked that question as well , ( about other stuff ) and not house hold items either , It surprised me about what was deemed not welding/ fabrication related .theres people with fingers in lots of pies on this forum and many times I've thought some one could use/want that.

Indeed. I've bought and sold electrical items and consumables on here.

I suspect the line is drawn at cars, wheels, etc. and work your way back from there...

Well I tried to sell some snap on mugs with glamour models on. Collectors items. Not workshop kit apparently!!

In seriousness there has to be a line otherwise someone has to sift through all the crap. Sometimes I’ve thought my stuff is workshop but mods say no. Just get mrs1979 to put it on face ache locally

We have no problems with members selling that sort of stuff on here, there's been loads sold over the years.
Car parts are a definite no, though wanted ads for them are absolutely fine.
If you're unsure if an item is acceptable just ask one of us but if it's not even remotely workshop or tool related then it's a definite no. That includes mugs regardless of who's logo is on them.

have you asked if you can sell the contactors and breakers on here there pretty relevant for machinery
