Fabric conditioner? (Sounds odd but bear with me..)

Magazine printers used to use it to coat paper on the set of rollers after paper comes out of the hot air dryer (heat set) - usually most used plain silicone but one or two always used to use fabric conditioner, I assumed because it was cheap and easy to get hold of!! Always smelled nice going home after working there don’t know if it still contains silicone I’ve not worked in that industry for about 10 years.

What is it? Well, it is to be AVOIDED in some situations!!! In particular, not to be used anywhere near electrical contacts. Some use it liberally on rubber, but read the label would be good advice. I'm very picky about what I use it on. And strictly speaking, it's silicone not silicon.

I use it on the window rubber channels for.one and also on rose joints

Use it quite a lot in parlours for slipperyness on installations.

Snap on toolbox drawer runners, dont last but does make them real nice for a while.
Sticky retracting seatbelt, works wonders.

I'm curious as to whether white lithium grease would do as well or better in most applications? IIRC, the original interest in silicone grease was because it was resistant to chemical attack by acids etc. It was also used in high vacuum systems. I have a can in the garage but rarely use it.

I use a can a month probably. On the window channels and door rubbers on the L200s stops the anti trap kicking in when putting up the windows and stops the doors freezing shut

Yep, the window channels are oft quoted as benefitting from silicone grease and that is where I have used it. But I've never tried lithium grease - have you?

Silicone spray is good on trail bikes, after the mud has been jetted off,
Water repellent, makes them nice and shinny, and easier to get the mud off next time
Good for car seat belts, if they return a bit slow.
Cheapest and best performing cans I have found, and use, are from TLC, I have tested four or five different makes.

No but I gave tried ptfe spray dry lube.
