I'm curious, what's the thing bolted on the left hand side? Looks like a bed mounted on a rotary table ot somthing? But it's got a contraption on the far end too?

It's one of those clear out posts, but my question is more out of curiosity than much else.

I was going to say pantograph of some sort, but it's too big/heavy looking and I can't think how you'd operate it.

Yes, I would say similar, set up on the bench to use with the bench grinder for sharpening tools etc.

It sure is, well found. That would make a dandy clamp-on jig for milling or grinding tapered gibs.
