Alternative to Cleco fasteners

Hey I'm wondering if there are any alternatives you guys would recommend as an alternative as I have a panel I want to prep to put on my resto project but they seem like a pricey but if kit?

Skin pins.

I don’t like clecos but prefer skin pins. I will take a pic.

I thought about this and it would work at a later stage when I've cut access to get to the back of the panel but before then I want something that will hold the two panels aligned

These look the job. Can they be fixed by and or is there a special tool they need to be fixed in place?

Hard drive magnets or self tappers. I got 20 hard drive magnets from eBay for about £20, they are seriously strong.

No they work by hand which is why I like them.

Drill the right sized hole; they are colour coded and match rivet sizes.

Put them through and spin the wheel on top to tighten.

I happened across a few hundred of these panel fasteners a few years ago.

I prefer these to the Cleco`s, gawd knows what they are called

What don't you like about clecos?

They don't work well if your trying to persuade alignment to be fair.

I just find the skin pins easier to use and quicker. You don’t need a tool. It’s what you’re used to I guess. Car guys seem to prefer clecos

One thing with skin pins is they can be fussy on hole size. Fine if you’re riveting the panel but not necessary if it’s welded.

I like to use butt clamps for welded panels. I made a set myself. When I remember to take the skin pin pic for op in the morn I’ll show what I mean.
