bet that hurts if they give you a kick i quite often work in stables or around them doing wiring allways park the van well away and wary taking stepladders in around them racehorces are real skittish and spook easily

The little pin bits inserted into the ends of the studs are tungstan carbide.

Might be useful if you want to make some little feet that grip nicely onto a tarmac surface?
Or something adjustable to slide something hardened along?
Although I can't really think of many imaginative uses for them...

Would be good for off-roading. Especially now you have some studs.
They very rarely get stuck in the mud.
And if they do you can just leave them to rot down as they don't contain any oil or other nasty environmental pollutants.

Wow I never knew such a thing existed. Like Blakey's for hooves. Or football boots for horses.
Presumably for racing and hunting? Not good on the road I would imagine.
Do you drill and tap the actual hooves, or just the iron shoes?
Amazing what you learn on here!

I think a horse can look after itself in a nice field, with a dry shed to retreat to, if it rains. The vet's bills are probly the worst bit. Then the tack i suppose.

Some types do ok turned out for the winter but some still need hay. I am putting two of the big round bales a week out to six turned out in one of the back fields. Dont know what SWMBO pays for them atm but they must be north of £25 each.

well I do know that in the good old days when they used to use horses in gunpowder factories, they used to have phosphor bronze horseshoes to prevent sparking....they'd cost a bit these days
