Wire for electronics project

I need some cable for an electronics project. It will be powered by a 9v battery

Previously I’d go to Maplins for small quantities of different coloured cable

Where can I get some now?

I’ve got stacks of thin ish (0.75mm) tri rated I use for work - I can chuck some lengths in a Jiffy bag if you want ? Red/blue/black/grey/pink

I buy trailer wire for stuff like that, cheap and resolves the ‘everything wired in red’ issue.

How about getting some multi-core cable in the length you want as that will give you a load of different colours in one go?

I have got some 24-core, maybe even some 30-core.
The conductors will be small and not particularly flexible but would be fine for project box stuff on a pp3 sort of power.
You can have some of that if you like?

Do you want single strand, which will bend and stay in place, or multi-strand, which is flexible, which will dangles unless held in place?

If you only need short pieces then try a scrap yard for a piece of car wiring loom will have a lot of different sizes and colours

For low voltage/breadboarding activities, I split up ribbon cable - 1M of the bay goes a long way, and very handy if you get multicolour, not grey

IF, your talking powering by pp3 9v battery at 500mah,
then telephone wire at 0.5 / 0.6mm is adequate, volt drop less than 0.1v at a metre,
DOWNSIDE is hf vibration over a prolonged time, being single strand it's a killer if unsupported
0.6mm better as it's also perfect for 32A rewireable fuses

This is why i keep old wiring looms, plenty of colours and useful to repair older looms
