Disposal of thinners & gunwash

It may be a silly question, but what are you supposed to do with used thinners, such as the stuff you've used to clean the spraygun out with?

start a bondy with it or tip it onto an old blanket and let it evaporate then put in wheelybin or u could do the right thing and take down the recycling center/ using fuel to get there causing more polution

B&Q and Wickes have disposal facilities for unused paint, so put it a paint tin and take it to one of those stores.

I use old cans, keep 'used but cleanish' in one for the first swill/wipe, and the manky stuff goes into another can, that goes to the tip along with old oil and batts.

I take dispose of mine in the waste oil container if i dont use it to start the bonfire!
One thing though, tipping it on an old blanket & letting it evaporate may not be a good idea as spontaneous combustion may occur if left in the sun, i have seen a fire go up caused by waste fibreglass materials & rags left in the sun & it went up so fast you would not believe.

We have a sealed metal 25l container that used gunwash gets tipped into. The solids settle to the bottom, and the 'clean' gun wash gets used again. Tend to clean the spray stuff a couple of times after use, so use new gunwash for the final clean. Stored well out of the way of anything hot

Our paint supplier was saying that gunwash bought from most places is recycled thinners anyway, collected from the big painting places, and properly filtered. Even with new gunwash we get a bit of sediment in the bottom.
