angle grinder chainsaw disc

One of my old bosses used one to cut the bottom off skirting boards whilst they were still on the walls. Allowed him to fit laminate flooring with no unsightly edges.

Biscuit jointer works well for that and a damn site safer.

Had to fit out a load of flats in victorian buildings with acustic flooring but weren't allowed to remove the skirtings.

Arbortech discs are great. You NEED to use a good guard and ppe. Done some nice carving with one.

Anything chainsawish needs to be treated with caution and respect , cant see these disc gadgets being any different . Just looked at the spec on one that Mr Chef posted up and it says use a variable speed grinder and the discs are only good for 6800rpm, never seen or used a variable speed grinder but one turned down to sub 7k rpm would probably be a bit gutless. Anyway cant see a problem with one if used with both mits and a firm stranglehold .

Its CE Marked, so it must be safe.

I dont think I would use one. Angle grinders are hazardous enough as it is and need to be treated with respect.
Until now the worst thing I've used in an angle grinder has been wire brushes, easy to have all sorts of accidents but at least helped by PPE. A chainsaw disc takes it to a whole new level, especially considering how long an angle grinder takes to stop.

Thing is there’s this thing that was invented years ago for chainsawing it’s called a chainsaw, I did try a chainsaw disk once tbh it was near useless not enough teeth so they blunted quickly and it like useing the nose of the bar. Bloody lucky that be why chainsaws have chain brakes tho

I have an arbortech disc, the one with solid teeth. It came with a guard that covers a good portion of the blade.

Never felt like it was dangerous, cuts okay, doesn't bite in... quite good fun to use.

Even this guy uses a chainsaw (a mains one too ) and didn't use a chainsaw disc. Given that he's likely well acquainted with carving machinery, I suspect there's a good reason.

Just seen the link to that thing, there is not much machinery I won't use but that is one of them.

They have sold 67 but only 19 feedback, probably the other 48 have no fingers left to type with.

Why not just take the base plate of a circular saw?

The photo of the guy carving ice blocks with a chainsaw, I know its electric but they are pretty powerful ( i have a similar one).
The only safety gear he has on are gloves & shades. I saw a block demonstrating chainsaw carving last year at RHS hyde hall, Small Stihl saw with a carving bar, (narrow tip) He made a point of checking the chain brake every single time he started it. He also had the kevlar pants, gloves & helmet with face shield. Chainsaws take few prisoners.
