Given the max yesterday at work.
Ground with an angle grinder for 6 hours no stop.
Cleaned two lathe chip pans.
Swapped oxygen cylinders.
Mig welded little bit, with enough good results as my first time using this process.
Heated up things using a cutting torch.
Gouge out cracks using a pneumatic die grinder, not so good but I'll do better next time being my first time using this tool.
Cut something using a plasma cutter , again better than expected being my first time.
Given a message working for 9 hours instead of 8 ( they were in a hurry to finish a job, and I didn't leave until we completed it)
I don't know if this last one was a smart move , but let's see how it goes.

Experimenting on the cheap with my sauna heater. I don't think it's very effective and I would like to achieve a clean burn with little to no visible smoke from the chimney. Might not be doable with this design. I got it for sale online so no permanent mods either. I am using it a lot lately because of cold and record electricity prices. It gives some additional warmth to the rest of the house when you leave the doors open.

It's basically a barrel shape you fill with wood, and lots of rocks outside, the chimney makes a loop for more surface area.

My first mod was just putting in a grate, but it did not help a lot. Seemed to have worse burn even and left unburnt bits, I think it was too high so I modified it so it sat lower, then it seemed to work better.

My latest mod was when I found this piece of rusty u-beam, I cut of a piece and hammered it roughly into a shape, the idea is it will carry fresh oxygen to near the chimney and the unburnt gasses will achieve secondary combustion there. I think it helped somewhat in reducing smoke. But it's still not optimal, difficult to get a proper draft into there. I will try and remove the front piece of steel and see if that helps, it's just a loose piece of steel.

I have since bored it to 30.007mm. For an oil seal.

Need to put a counterbore in this now of 47mm x 12mm deep for a 6004 bearing.

Then face a 2mm step in the centre which locates the lid.

Lastly I will try to pick up the existing bolt holes on the pump this goes on, then match them to this lid. Haven't quite figured out the best way to do that yet.

If it'll locate centrally on the step, then transfer screws or punch would do it nice and easy.

Depending on the size I often photograph flanges with a rule in the picture then go over to CAD. You can easily hit enough accuracy for drill holes.

But that's if I'm going to have it laser cut

Cardboard and ball pein should get you good enough.

Transfer screws would probably be best.

Can't use cardboard because that won't pick up the alignment from the shaft.

Likewise I can't use a transfer punch because they're blind holes in the pump

If the holes are treaded put two socket grub screws in with the heads slightly proud, put cover on and lightly tap so you have a circle from the grub screw on the flange.

Been in it a few times, as you say nothing from the outside but the steak was spot on. I was told that he rents the place and the owners will only do the minimum of repairs.

Waiting on some glassing being done before I can measure up for an aluminium corner piece so decided to give making a rack plate a go.

Got it cut on the plasma then welded and painted.

Few cock ups though. First is I had to use the bigger nozzles as I don't have smaller ones and for the text I had to programme at 1.6mm kerf and the nozzles have a 2mm kerf hence the centre of the small "a" dropped out. The next cock up was I decided to grind the welds flush but made a mess of the ones on the upper tabs.

I am reasonably happy with it as a first attempt so I reckon I will make another, possibly just leaving the welds and also get it powder coated.

Would still need welded up I think and that may look crap unless I did better inside grinding.
