We watched Blown Away and there are some incredibly skilled people on it. There was a metal work one too, though the name escapes me at the moment. I haven't seen the UK woodworker one but I agree with the comment about the time they are given on these shows. They are expected to make something from scratch in 4 hours that they could easily spend a day or more on.

I saw litreally a 30 seconds of the carpentry programme when it was on. I saw what the judges and contestants were like and it went off.
l am sure that these people come from a different planet.

What the flip
Nice set of old wooden drawers, you know the sort very useful for bits and pieces.
They've bolted a sheet of polished ally on the top (bolt heads sticking up so it is not a flat surface), then swapped the quite nice knobs for brass ones.
Surprised they didn't paint it battleship grey too....

Yes, it was great to watch someone who really knew what they were doing going about their work.
I would have killed for his workshop, he seemingly had tools for everything (and knew how to use them) and most of all loads of space!!

I used to watch the New Yankee Workshop years ago. Norm is a really talented guy and with access to some decent machinery some of the stuff he turned out was lovely. Used to enjoy This Old House with Norm and Bob Vila and Steve years ago too.
