Urgent help needed

Someone else posted [can't remember who ] about skin burn through their trousers when TIGing and it wasn't UV burn but a reaction to, iirc, paracetamol?

This seems VERY strange.....

Process of elimination needed here, try a two bob welding hood. No uv will get through one of those. I use one when welding under machines and have had my face within inches of the weld.

Eye burn takes a while for the irritation to start, he will know if its UV tonight, when cant sleep for sand in your eyes.

Ive never used 1.2mm wire but that suggests big welds and heat. Any problems with smaller stuff? Do you have a photo of your bench area/setup?
Is the roof reflective?

Are you welding new clean steel?

All the steel is brand new not galvanised but I’m wearing a welding hood so maybe my screen at fault

Yer I’ve been to the doctors and £40 later with different creams to bring the burn back under control

its not the fluorescent type of ppe wear is it? or with the bright reflective stripes? i have found that can bounce quite a lot of uv back under your visor

I have had the reflected light issue , I have a fire retard head cover that is a dark blue really helps to block off angle light leaks / reflection from bright clothes

like this but not this one perticularly.

Also handy for keeping stuff out ur ears and hair

Are you getting over heated ?
My brother was working some ware recently that was massivly hot and he came out in red blotches that kind of resembled sun burn.

I have had my face to close to welding and got over heated and deydrated, made me felt a bit poo but didn't notice sunburn like effects.

A welding cap underneath my hood like you stated plus my screen a big open work shop too with plenty of ventilation

No not getting any welding burn at all before, other welders just take the **** saying that I’ve wasted my money on that screen and that I’ve got weird skin
