SiP 07768 Bandsaw

Hi everyone, I have looked at a secondhand SiP 07786 12in bandsaw today.
Any known problems with this model? This one was manufactured in 2007 and looks in as new condition. I could not get any good reasons as to why he was selling it.

how much for and can u see it working?? there a decent model

He is asking for 800euro - about 750 pounds - including a spare blade and a steel protractor/angle finder thingy!! Yes I did see it cutting a piece of 4x2 channel - no problem. It runs as sweet as a nut and cuts perfectly. Is this machine a bit of overkill as a hobby machine?

there over a grand new .would be excelent for use wether diy or industrial .depends on how much u got to spend and would u get your moneys worth and use out of it

I have the usualjobs to do around the house and yard, gates and railings etc. I could always sell it on when I am finished! When are we ever finished around the place? you finish one job and you are told to start the next

if your not 2 bothered wether u get it or not make him a bid on it worth a punt

Thats a lot of cash for most diyers TBH....most can manage with a 6x4 bandsaw,or a chop saw,even cold saws are cheaper ,in fact you could buy almost one of each for that money.....if however you have a need for that size saw ,if you have the other kit to go with the hobby ,then they are great saws especially if you are cutting huge steel.......Gav

I have bid him 650euro about 550pounds for it. Start low enough and see what goes. I will wait for a few days and contact him again and maybe dripfeed him another 50.

id have one meself for that price but got a rapidor mechanical hacksaw it does all i need

I have 1, I find that the base does seem a little flimsy, moves around when you lift the saw up and rest it, could easily be strengthened, but not much of a problem, I got mine cheap damaged in a fire) got new switch and hydrualic ram and wheels, belt cover from sip, sourced new cable and suds hose (the suds sump has prevoiusly been remade from steel) works a treat have had the largest I beam poss to get in it in it, straight through no problem, ive scourced new blades from cromwell's £12-15 each, I dont have any instructions with it, and so guess at speeds for cutting, doesn't seem to make much difference though, excellent bit of kit otherwise.
I generally use it for chopping up 4-5" pipe (flues for narrowboats) and find that the angle cutting is v/good.

How dos this SIP compare against a SD-812 from sawsdirect.co.uk.
Id rather buy new and the price seems good, but I have a SIP mig and itll be good them matching
