as some of you know polishing is a messy business.
so I bought bits 'n' bobs and made this. it work a treat.

What model of shop vac is that?
Still need to sort some dust extraction for my blast cabinet.

Are the hoods adjustable in case you need to move them back a bit for larger work?

Have you tried it yet? does it stop the freckles or just the stripe up the wall behind the machine?

vacum..got it from m/mart combie-vac earlex wd1000.
I haven't bothered making the hoods adjustable but can easily be done if needed.
as for the dust etc it WORK'S great.
it didn't at 1st till I put a piece of hardboard above the the wheel.
it has a left and right shut off gates. so when using the right hand the left is shut off.
this gives a lot more suction.

Do you do much aluminium? I believe the dust can become quite explosive when extracted (like flour, sawdust etc.). Professional units use a water trap of some decription, not sure how exactly or what the risk/likelyhood of impending doom! W/A

no!
got some rubber sheeting given so I've covered the whole mouth on both except the wheels of course
will let you know how it all work out when I get a load to do.

its ok. i used to work at the copydex factory wiring machinery up they had large polishing machines for aluminium with dust extraction hoods. theres not a problem because the dirt that comes off the wheel is cloth with polishing soap bedded in so its more of a claggy mess than dust
