Kids have been flying kites recently and I grabbed a old traction kite to play with.
Couldn't help myself. Found a landboard and dug out my old windsurfing harness. Raided the chandler's when I built that up To replace the stock hook.
Swivel wichard and roller block.
Strop between kite handles goes between the pulley so I'm not holding the weight with my arms

Closest I came to a&e and I've flown in 80mph winds. bloody pothole on the beach. Why would you let kids dig holes on my racetrack.

Today I acquired a 200mm d1-6 backplate for the 12" lathe chuck.
And a disc to try from @Welderpaul , never seen or used these before. Will have a play tomorrow

I use standard flap disks on timber. Great for scribing curves

It is both ways, I just got stuffed with goods coming in from the EU, UPS wanted their fee, UK government wanted theirs then of course I had the VAT to pay. The government has set out a pragmatic new timetable for introducing full import controls for goods being imported from the EU to the UK.

We had a long training session yesterday with a huge firm of vets specialising in export health certificates.
To ship even a pallet of cake to the EU needs health certs for the eggs - milk and butter used in the cake, £250 for each one
The vets have to inspect the lorry to make sure the vehicle is safe to transport the goods.
This has been in place for British companies exporting to the EU from day 1.
This does NOT apply to goods coming here. Now delayed until July 2022 and I am not holding my breath for it to come in then either.
Why aren't we applying the rules? Empty shelves look bad that's why.

We have a machinery ring in the village and surrounding area: whoever is a member and pays his dues can use the machines and common equipment purchased with the common dues .
Is very efficient, you have much better material available than you could ever buy yourself. There are great discounts from the manufacturers.
Who is not a member, of course, does not participate.
In the machinery ring there is the obligation to drive only tested equipment hydraulically.
Experience has shown that a single tractor with metal chips in the hydraulics can infect a whole fleet of tractors and implements.
Because the necessary testing equipment was purchased and plans drawn up at an early stage, the entire fleet of all members can be well tested every year.
It is sometimes a bit of a chore to comply with these rules, but everyone sees their own benefit in the end.

There’s a machinery ring here. Not sure about the testing of hydraulic though.

On Youtube, Cutting Edge Engineering's latest two videos demonstrate this perfectly. Foreign matter in the hydraulics has trashed two large hydraulic rams that Kurtis had to rebuild. Must have cost tens of thousands for the material and labour.

Unless I guess you're talking about plugging in log splitters, for example, and contaminating various hydraulic circuits ?

I didn't even know if the 1:1 translation of "Maschinenring" to "machinery ring" made sense in English, apparently it does.
One of the biggest rental companies for construction machinery over here gives me a matching hydraulic hammer for almost nothing when I rent a mini-excavator.
But he rents me this hammer alone for no money in the world just for my own excavator ... all said.

That’s how I read it. There should be filters in the machines but some of the ones I work on are ‘aged’ to say the least
