A question for the Great MiG Sages .
I've seen that experienced MiG welders use the "Push" technique instead of the "Drag". I've read on here that exponents say that it's easier to see the weld pool, and that as there is no slag with Gas Mig - its the way to go?
Here's the thing. I've tried it a couple of times & I'm lousy at it. The nice arc and even sizzle I can get (sometimes anyway) turns into spitting and it behaving like the wire speed is too high.
I've spent the last year on my gasless mig, where The Drag is the technique because of Slag deposits (or so I believe).
So - is it perfectly ok for me to continue to gas mig weld using the drag method - or is it imperative that I start over & try to master the Push technique?
TIA,
G.
