Lucky you I'm still waiting sent it in early June, email to say it had been received 27th July, I'll probably get it back with next years D4 medical form.

It’s easy, ring the Welsh language line, get answered straight away. Obviously there are still people who want to work in Swansea...

F*****g DVLA, I've just had a letter asking me for an up-to-date D4 medical, after they sat on my application - with valid D4 medical - for 19 weeks. 
Our bus services are being cut daily due to lack of drivers, DVLA say you can drive whilst renewing, but as I am looking to go back into the industry I left 4 years ago employers want a valid licence.
DVLA phone nos. just cut you off, email- all you get is an autoresponce.
Wonderful way to run a country, bring back the days when vocational licences were dealt with by the local traffic commisioner, this would be dealt with asap as the local employers would complain direct to the Traffic Commisioner and it would be dealt with.

Already done that, but DVLA don't care.
19 weeks to process application, I'll probably leave the industry permanently.
That self serving waste of space, I wouldn't waste the cost of a stamp as he never replies - plenty of complaints about that.
He is supposed to represent a coastal community, so he votes to let water companies continue to dump sewage into the sea and rivers.

It seems nothing in this wretched cess pit of a country works anymore.
I had my Covid Astra Zeneca jab last February, within a couple of days I had a seizure, unconscious for four days, (when I came around the hallucinations were something else); my family preparing for my death or permanent brain damage; a week in hospital. On recovery was told by consultant to inform DVLA, expect a six month driving ban but reapply six weeks in advance of it ending. No reason given for the seizure - just one of those things? I'd not been ill, I have my suspicions.
Did that, informed the DVLA, a whole month later they asked me to return my licence, sent me some paperwork and a form for my consultant to sign. Six months, now became seven.
During that month, my wife's diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 3 cancer and a very poor prognosis, lots of GP/hospital/consultant visits, I can't drive her and hospital Covid restrictions mean I can't be with her.
Six weeks in advance of my ban ending, I send the form into the hospital for my consultant's signature and registration number, it sits on his secretary's desk for a month, then she goes on holiday, before she returns, he goes on holiday. Six weeks after I've sent the form in, it gets round to being signed and returned to me. I complain to the hospital about their admin, they don't give a toss and blame it on 'holidays'.

Certificate are required to accompany them. Will I ever see them again?
Another month passes, the DVLA return my documents but tell me they've passed my application to their medical department and they will have to write to my consultant. Another six weeks, maybe double that, who knows?
The way this contemptible corrupt government have run this country and its services into the ground, the next time I'll be in a vehicle with my wife, it'll be a hearse.

Write to your MP, call them, be a nuisance.

wat's really driving me crazy....
they can't run full staff because they need to spread people around because of covid?
why aren't they running extra shifts?
could easily run 3 shifts with 1/3 of staff on each shift ? - especially easy in the call centres etc.

Did exactly the same to me. Had to go through the same process of getting our skiving doctors to fill in the forms again.

Had a phone call from an arrogant and condescending DVLA employee, basically they are saying I did not send in a D4 medical form, would not accept they had lost it between opening the envelope on 27/07/2021 and processing it on 23/10/2021. Was told i had 2 options send in an up-to-date D4 medical or withdraw my application, So application withdraw under duress as I do not trust them to loose a 2nd D4.
I will make a formal complaint, but DVLA never loose paperwork or make mistakes .

22 weeks after I applied to renew my driving licence, my new licence arrived - minus PCV - next farce comes in 5 years when I turn 70 and want to keep 7.5T on my licence, by then they may have sorted out the mess they're in, but I doubt it.

Half a million drivers waiting months for new driving licences
The latest figures show that 517,881 drivers have been waiting more than 10 weeks for their licence renewals to be processed as the DVLA faces a huge backlog of paper applications
And yes they are still in a mess.
What do you expect from the civil service. They love "working" from home!

I was TOLD that I had not sent a D4 medical - what they mean is the D4 was either lost or not scanned into the system - DVLA will have destroyed the paperwork months ago, I was bluntly told "send up to date D4 or withdraw your application for PCV".
I decided that as I have not driven a bus/coach for 4 years, and the stress of trying to get anything done was not worth it - I had taken early retirement due to work related stress.
