Sorry but not welding related. Is there anyone in the Mansfield area who could repair my guitar amp, it's a Carlsbro GLX150C combo and I have had this amp from new a 1994 model. It has been repaired before but the place is no longer trading. The last tech was an old employee from the old Carlsbro factory in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and these amps where one of the first that he worked on. I am no expert and don't know what to look for anyway. I don't want to get rid of it if it can be repaired so if there is anyone who can repair it at a reasonable cost it would be most appreciated. Pud.

most electronics guys should be able to repair this although lack of circuit diagrams will slow some down a bit

You must know other musicians around the area and I would suggest asking them where they have bought their gear or even if they have had repairs done to get recommendations

Failing that find a local shop and ask them

I used to do repair work and even design and build but it was a LONG time ago and I have too much else going on to volunteer, sorry

Just to mention that I am not a musician just a bedroom player with a few amps and guitars. Since I was about 22 I have had a Carlsbro amp and this one was the first purchase along with a Patrick Eggle guitar that I bought after the pit closed. I dont move in musician circles and the last place it was repaired have ceased trading so if it's not worth bothering with the speakers alone must be worth something but I sooner use it as an acoustic amp, I have other amps so it's not as though I'm in desperate need of it but I would be nice to hear it in all its glory again. Pud.

With a cct diagram or would be easy. without, it’s a time consuming risk and lesson in guesswork. Hard to estimate cost or time wise, so only someone who’s not got much on is likely to touch it. If you fail to find a repairer I might be interested in buying it, but transport both ways plus repair time would make it uneconomical for me to offer to fix it. Sorry.

MattF. buzzes and no volume and no difference on bright switch channel 1; master volume channel 1&2 only increase buzz volume and amp giving popping sound; chorus switch not working and chorus on/off light not working; o/d 1&2 and channel 2 effects mix not working. no volume from jack input, every now and again buzzing increases and intermittent popping, probably other things but thats enough to be carrying on with. Oh and bye the way IIRC this was the same or similar fault that i had before and it was repaired at Crazy Train Music at Nuncargate but they are not trading from there any more. Pud

That is about right. That said, it is easily the best forum in its field in the UK, and has members worldwide. You just have to accept that "when In Rome... make no waves at all".

My Sons amp was acting up and was going to get it fixed I gave him my electrical contact cleaner and that fixed the problem he’s a happy camper again.
Mind you he practices under my bedroom.

Yea there were a few sticky/scratchy control nobs but they did nothing to improve the fault. I am going to remove the amp from the cab tomorrow and see if there is anything obvious plus give it a good contact spray. To be truthful I did this last time it had this fault and it did nothing so it landed up going in for repair. I have had this amp from new so If can get it repaired at a reasonable price then i will but if not well?, perhaps get rid. Thanks for all your reply's. Pud.

It's probably just worn out jacks and switches - maybe a cracked solder joint.

I think it would definitely be worth asking for advice on how to fix, or a recommendation for a repairer here:
