the workshop is a grade 2* listed building, planning would like to see stone tiles back on the roof but may also accept a slate that is similar to that of the conservation area. At £12,000 and 20 ton for the stone tiles, as opposed to to around £6,000 and 10 ton for 22x11 slates it’s a no brainier.
the question is to fit welsh tonne slates instead of 22x11. Has anyone any experience with tonne slates, good or bad difficult to lay? Think the tonne slates would make the building more interesting as they seem to have been more common on commercial premises than residential, there’s a few lying round so do wonder if they were on the roof before the Marley’s were put on. Thanks
