I think ours is brilliant. We use it every day, saves us loads of money (and plastic waste) in fizzy water bottles and allows control over how fizzy the water is.

Today a British military canteen/cook kit arrived. I modified the cup for over the fire use by punching a couple of holes near the rim for a hanger and added several holes along the base of the meths cooker with my whitney-punch. Our planned canoe trip for this summer didn't happen, so I thought I'd take a punt on another piece of outdoor cooking gear to console myself.

Some days ago my local men's shed acquired some more freebies from the same generous source that provided us with a very decent anvil, a swage block and a large bench shear. Four items in total: a Draper bandsaw, a Sealley pillar drill, a Miller Integra 201 MIG welder and a pretty big cut-off saw with a 16" steel blade (can't recall the name). I went to take photos of them all but the batteries on my camera died half way through the session. I'll add shots of the MIG welder and the cut-off saw next time I'm in the shed.



It needs a bit of a clean up but is working perfectly and, once I'd reset the vice, is cutting square. Cuts dry and the feed is a case of balancing spring tension against weight. Any info on this saw would be appreciated.



The drill is set up with a Morse taper shank so using larger drills is now a reality, particularly as the lowest speed is 162 rpm. Several 3/4" plus drills came with it although two looked like they'd been sharpened by a darts player! Manufacture date was July 1999 but despite its age, it runs pretty sweetly.

Annoyingly much too big for my lathe

Designed for something with a 4MT Headstock with at least an inch through the headstock.

I was gambling on them being 3C collets but they are 4C!

Draw bar has built in dividing and an end stop it's mint.

I was looking to upgrade the Myford from ER25 to a drawbar setup so looked like just the job. Sigh will I ever learn.

4MT was a guess as common for 4C collet adaptors I haven't measured it.
