3 double sockets in my CU cupboard

Why would anyone have done this, looks like they are all wired on one circuit on their own on the fourth circuit breaker from the right. I plan to have a look at what exactly they have done under the floor tomorrow and then use that circuit breaker for my new kitchen sockets if it's free.

As they are lined up the cables will be clashing with the socket below! Still I have not wired up a farm of any sort so what do I know?

Cable and phone lines come in by my CU so have fibre box, router, NAS drive, phone etc. that need lots of sockets nearby, maybe something similar?.

Anyone else think those RCD’s could be getting a bit warm seeing as they are rated for 63a and are protected by what looks like a cutout 100a fuse? Especially the one on the left with all the tasty 40/32a ccts on…

They are probably been put in there for charging stuff. Torch, vacuum, drills etc.

It might be worth looking into getting some mechanical protection for those cables going down to the floor. Very easy to sling stuff in a cupboard and damage them.

diversity is used so they arent all carrying full current at the same time

ive seen that setup

used on reference of rewiring the property and we need power whilst its being done

lights plugged in another for the 16amp transformer and so forth

was used in leeds on that heritage site before it was fully rewired

I've seen that on site too in a domestic refurb, for exactly the same reason. They rip out all the 240 except for what's right by the CU and plug in transformers from there.

I have two doubles right above my CU. They power the Cable router, wireless bridge, external HDD and the charger for my LED hand lamp.

Sound likely, the house was stripped out and rewired 8 years ago so that could be it.

Very little chance of them getting warm in any normal use.

It doesn'tatter what the writing on the fuse or circuit breaker says, the actual load will be pretty small in a house.

Through the magic of diversity the average house could run off a 20A fuse without incident.

Has this MK breaker style been superseded, the MK B32 5932s does not seem to be very common.

They have, but most wholesalers will have some, or be able to get them.

I possibly have some of these in my spare breaker collection, definitely got some MKs. I can have a look tomorrow evening and double check for you.

EDIT: be careful tightening them up, they can chew the screws (classic modern MK) and break the plastic even when tightening to the manufacturers specified torque setting.
