garage door. Broke!

My workshop is my single car garage, Which has a fibreglass up and over door. I noticed it was getting harder to open, Then today, It would only open half way. Now, I don't have a phone or camera, So I will have to try and explain what has happened. There is a bar on both sides of the door, which keeps the door level while it is being lifted up. One of the bars has snapped at the weld on one side, this allows the door to twist and jam. The bracket where it is welded to is also bent. Now, I don't know weather the bracket being bent, caused the weld to fail, Or weather the bar has started to fail and that's what caused the bracket to bend. It's throwing it down with rain at the moment so I can't look at it. It's a good Job I took voluntary redundancy, I need the time!!! Does anyone have any tips to release the springs which I will need to do before straightening the bracket?

My old Henderson door with spring above the frame had pin holes through the end pieces so the spring could be locked off while doing maintenance (cone and cables). Other than that it was a case of putting a couple of adjustables on the end of the spring and slowly releasing the tension turn by turn.
Try and find what make it is and look for instructions online eg:

More info needed - spiral wound springs on the top bar - or extension springs down each side

Sorry, Thee are extension springs down each side. I was a little kid when it was installed so I haven't got a clue what make it is.

OK, Posting for assistance. A mate of mine came round and we managed to wrestle the door open. One of the brackets had worked loose and twisted slightly, This the fouled on a pivot point and the metal that was made of managed to rip itself apart. (not helped by me not realising the screws were loose in the first place) Bit of bashing the metal straight and we managed to butt weld it back together with a stick welder. rebuilt it and it seems to be working fine now. How long it will last I don't know, but we have already designed an alternative.
