Issue with interior gloss paint.

I can think of three possibilities here:

1. Lack of UV (it’s lack of UV that can affect oil based paint, not exposure to it as far as I’m aware).

2. Leaching from the substrate (obviously if it’s plasterboard for example you can rule this out).

3. Dampness (unlikely if the discolouration is uniform).

What make of paint was it?
I've used Leyland brilliant white water based and it's good stuff.
Never buy Wickes!!!

that will explain why the paint behind all my cupboards is yellow and not the stuff in the open

As @Cobbler says its lack of light that sends the oil base whites yellow.

All my interior woodwork is painted with the same paint and the outside of the cupboard doors are still brilliant white but the insides are yellowed, same with the skirting boards behind the cupboards and sofa.

I'd still rather a bit of yellow, than water based though, I find the water based stuff never flows very well and looses its sheen quite quickly.

Yeah, fair do s. You live and learn, this has to be problem. Areas of the workshop don’t really see much sunlight. Just a bit disappointed though, I spent some time making an effort for good result, shame to see it yellowing.

Bedec water based, stays white and is tough.

I’m in two minds about Bedec Barn Paint. I used it for both shed and workshop. If I did it all over again I might opt for oil based. I say this because the durability I’m not 100% about. I recently cleaned the feather edge cladding and some of the Beddec paint did come off.

I don't use the barn paint, it's interior whites the op referred to. Bedec MSP is what I use for this. I've also used MSP for exterior whites like windows and doors, no issues at all with peeling. I think the barn paint you refer to is for rough sawn, fences, sheds etc
