We have a bit of bother with most of the courier firms and supermarkets if they get a new driver on. Usually though its just laziness as our drive is just over a mile long and there's a gate to open. Many times it is people's fault, I would say the people on here are not many of the many if that makes sense.
Not having visible numbers on a house is one of my pet hates. I delivered for many, many years (family business) and we didn't have GPS or Google maps back in the day, we used an A-Z if needed. My late father was a walking street reference, ask him where any road was in Teesside and he could tell you. We very rarely got it wrong. Those days of local knowledge are gone but it has been replaced by Google Maps, easy innit, not. You need to use Google Maps in conjunction with a map and an A-Z.
I recently visited @addjunkie and he looked surprised that I had driven straight to him without a phone call, but he had taken the trouble to send me a copy of the directions he sends to his customers, I took the same trouble to read it and there I was. Obviously people don't listen, or read nowadays. Too much in a rush, it would go smoother and faster if people took their time and read the instructions. I am off the beaten track, but like a few I know on here, my house is highlighted and is actually named on Google maps, they still get it wrong.
A couple of weeks back I was waiting for a delivery and the driver called up and I knew exactly where he was, I started to give him precise directions, he decided I was wrong and started arguing with me, where do you go to from there?
Much of it is lack of education ( I am talking about being out in the real wide world and finding out how things really work) and to a lesser degree a lack of knowing the English language.
Recently MyMrs used asda. Shopping didnt appear, she rang the delivery boss at the store ( we have her direct dial number, from past issues.) shopping put on the next van, he couldn't find us either. 3rd driver dispatched with only our shopping for overtime as he knew where we were.
i do have to wonder though as tablets phones etc, certainly dont seem to have replaced the not so common common sense.
