I've come across that before. Cheaper to over engineer than do a detailed design on things.
They wouldnt spec 50mm end plates if they had to lift them themselves!

3 more left to make then done on the bases. Started the primer this afternoon, 4.5 litres per base. 1litre's worth on floor and all over me. I hate spraying. 3 wagons tomorrow to take first set to site: first wagon at 7 to take these two, then we've got to get the next two sprayed before he gets back
Just as well its quick drying!
We bought the stringer steel in pre cut. Picture shows two parts tacked together square and to the correct leg lengths. Having to put to much weld in to fill the gaps that they start to pull Needless extra work. We would have had them cut exactly cos we know the heartache if they aint. Numpty who cut them doesnt have that worry. Steel co been out to us twice a day every day this week with re-cut parts. Some of them recut, and still wrong.

Not too bad to install, the weight of the stairs pulled the column around a bit as they went on each side, lots of rebar in the pad foundation gave us problems putting the holding down bolts in - decent drill bit on a Hilti TE76 managed to get through 16mm rebar
Another day tomorrow to finish it off, few welds to keep the mating parts of the stringers together, stop a bit of sag, and a bit of primer to touch up.
Decent slinger banksman made life easy.
- lots of rebar sticking out above us ready to cast the cover slab over the stairs, tower crane on full reach, and a bit windy Concrete slabs were a bit out as well, slab edge ran out 40mm over 2.5m. Gert wedge hammered in on one side sorted that out

Is the stair tower blocked up afterwards?
I wonder why they didnt go for concrete....
The stair shaft is either glazed or has cladding round it. We have some beams to put in to pick up some of the support frame for it.
Safety harnesses not just ornaments today! twas a long way to fall from where i took the photo from!
I got laddo to lie on his back on the ground floor and eye up the side of the stringers to check they looked ok. Site Manager came out of the office at that exact moment to see him laid on his back, and me and another lad kneeling down on the top floor looking down at him. He went back in the office for a lie down i think!
