I have a feeling that sulphuric is used to strip powder coating off alloy wheels (for what that is worth). What metal is the primer on?. One thing is for sure, sulphuric is fantastic at stripping off human skin! Anyway, it's been agreed that we now write 'sulfuric' ,I've never tried it, but I believe the chemistry is such that sulphuric acid attacks epoxy.
Hydrofluoric might work - also known as Royal Water - but seriously nasty stuff. Dissolves gold!
You are quite right this blood sugar nonsense doesn't do the old grey matter any good at allNope. It's Aqua Regia that dissolves gold. A mixture of Hydrochloric and Nitric acids.

I once partially dissolved a fairly large platinum dish by cleaning it in aqua regia (inside a fumecupboard). Pt is not as valuable as gold, but I did keep very quiet about what I had done. The fumes from Aqua Regia (nitrosyl chloride) are exceptionally nasty; a single breath of it is seriously bad news .
Cannot buy nitric acid anymore without a licence, as its used in explosives. I used to be able to buy small amounts for steel bluing/blacking.
Yes, isn't that the Poisons and Explosive Precursors act or regulation? I suspect it covers sulphuric too, which can be used to concentrate nitric.
When you look back at things like "Hobbies" magazine in the 50 and 60's, they had articles about all kinds of stuff that would have MI5 on your door step now. And the stuff we did at school (pre the '74 HASAW) just seem extraordinary now.
You cannot even get decent paint stripper now for gods sake.
Thats because DCM is a known carcinogen. More than 1 in 4 deaths are due to cancer.
Who knows, maybe not exposing people to known carcinogens throughout their lifetimes may stop them dying of cancer?
Doesn't seem to be working, plenty of people dropping off the perch near me here in the past six months.
EPP license, isn't that the one you stump up 35 quid and they give you one, a license that is.Yes, isn't that the Poisons and Explosive Precursors act or regulation? I suspect it covers sulphuric too, which can be used to concentrate nitric.
No plans to gold or platinum plate the car.
