I made my work space a little more organised.
A new shelf for 'stuff' ... well it was a pre-existing shelf, but used to be in a metal cupboard. I made a support for the right hand end (wood sorry
), which in turn gave me somewhere to store my angle grinders. I think it was someone here that suggested using those hooks for garden tools?

I also made up a set of power sockets to go above the window, in place of the current ones on the pillars either side. Plan is that I can then board the pillars (I've done one already) and hang some tools there. A full wall would be nice, but I like to be able to see outside, and the light is great.

Today I decided to fit the plasma torch I bought a year or more ago
Ok so it didn't fit in the brackets on the Z axis of the plasma so had to make a new one. Started off with a 50mm thick piece of 4" x 4" aluminium. Faced off both sides and then started to bore a 35mm hole.
Hole done.
Torch body slides in nicely.
Forgot to take pics of the rest of the making of the bracket but here it is fitted. Had to use the body and gland from the old torch as the new one was too tight to let the cables pass through when done up with heatshrink.
And here is what it is like now.
Back to the old torch as the new one is junk. It is a two part torch and the lower part can move slightly and it wobbles with the acceleration of the axes. It also doesn't clamp up square when you tighten it. Tried all sorts of things but the only solution would be to clamp the lower half and that kind of defeats the point of having a quick detach torch. Lesson learned, if it looks like a good idea it probably isn't

rear jacking point on an lr322 ,,,, three down and four more lined up ,,,, gods these things can rot under the plastics , they have never been an issue till now , looks like the MOT boys found out a few moths back , about the gap between the plastic and the jack point , and they all seem to know now exactly where to poke a screw driver ,,, in NI we have large test centres , same as PSV centres so its a network and all government run , no mot testing in private garages ,,, in theory a very fair way of doing things ,,, in theory ... trouble is its like the Borg , once one common fault is found , they all know ...
