Rushed last minute birthday present for mrs1979 inspired by @kevla nowhere as good as his but what I’d ordered hadn’t arrived so banged it out this afternoon before she got home so she’d have something in lieu of the actual present which should be here tomorrow I’m promised

Oh and by the way @Jacktegla, re the other thread, that rose was plasma’d. Only because i had the file and the machine both sat there. Saved me some time but didn’t need to have done it that way.

Some times a small amout of worm damaged can be fixed, in this case I fixed it with fire.


Head was cleaned up by hand, after boiling in citric acid.
The face was polished on a off cut of canvas and metal polish.

Yes the wedge is waiting to be cleaned, but there was a name on it.

It is stamped in and is original to the hammer, so it be reused.

Fitted to a new shaft.
The head was blacked with my kit. But it takes a while for the de watering solution to dry.

When it is the working face will be polished.

Got round to posting the polished working faces.

Extra long drill flutes I shortened last year, thought if I turn the ends I could fit a plain shank on them and use in the er40.
Started the 16.25mm with carbide.

24mm I tried CBN which was better.

I wanted to make up some m14 x 1.5 nuts, one for a new qctp base and the other for a nicer, tool-less handle. First making up a test screw. I had the speed up a bit. I even turned the vfd stop time right down, but my reactions were slow.

No damage, realigned. Took a deep cut. Im not sure why it tore the thread, but I never liked en3 mild!

Not exactly fixed but painted, Jotun Pilot 2 gloss, it's a bold colour but her lines wear it well. Rhubard and Custard! Only the 1st coat so far.

That was my Iscar blade. I may get another but I havent seen any offers on the 2mm N2C blades, the MSC is only 3mm? It was working very well for the last few weeks.

This mild also smashed a new sp200 insert, correct centre height and square, not going to get any more of them, too fragile.

I'll try the 3mm chinese sp300's for a while as Im running the slow pulley.

Marihøna (Norwegian for 'ladybird') is a William Atkins 'Vixen' design, built in Norway, 1957, and fitted out in Bermuda.
She has a Littlehampton connection though; it's the first harbour where she first touched English soil, after a very rough maiden transatlantic crossing in 1960.
There are a few others kicking around the planet, maybe eight yachts built to this design, mostly in the USA but one in NZ.
Thanks for your interest, I could drone on for days without 'repetition, deviation or hesitation' about these vessels but must remind myself this is a welding forum..
