Hello all. New member and beginner welder here
I picked up an old Jasic/Unimig triple process welder (UNIMIG 205 Razor) recently. It isn't in great condition but most of it can be repaired inexpensively. Most importantly the unit has been checked electrically and tagged. It turns on.
The previous user butchered the Unimig SB25 Binzel style MIG torch somehow and the gas nozzle has been completely melted off - arrow marked "this". Good thing is, I've been able to take off whatever was left of it just twisting it and the spring assembly hard, so I think whatever spatter gunk was on it has been sheared off by my bruteforcing, lol. What remains below of the thread is actually shiny brass, no spatter other than what you see on the leftmost end of the charred "collar", where there is a little tiny bit of gunkiness. Otherwise, most of the swan neck still looks relatively clean.
Do any of the pros out there have any advice on cleaning up minor bumps in the swan neck thread? I was thinking of just using a file to file off some of the lumps but overall it seems I can still put a gas nozzle and spring back on. I will also be changing the contact tip assembly.
Just seeing if its possible to go about this inexpensively. A new swan neck costs 25-38 AUD.
Thank you for your time and collective wisdom!
