Kitchen cabinet hinges, expert required.

I have a broken hinge on one of my kitchen cabinets resulting in it not closing all the way. The hole size is 35mm and it is full overlay. I bought a couple of 35mm hinges from Wilkinson's but they don't fit. My hinges are full overlay, but the Wilko ones are not. Been looking on the Screwfix website and they list 29 different hinges, all with different dimensions. They don't state what the dimensions are or where to measure. I measured the old hinges and nothing corresponds to anything stated on the Screwfix listings. This is driving me nuts. It's a 5 minute job to change the hinges but what do I buy and from where? Anyone knowledgeable on this subject?

Is it a corner cupboard? Any pics? Seems odd you haven’t been able to get something to fit as they should be fairly standard (apart from opening angle hence my Q about corner)

Pointless swapping like for like as it fouls the appliance. Just a normal 95 degree be fine

They have even more choices than Screwfix, lol. Think I might have to take one off and bring it with me. Toolstation only list 1 same as Wilko but I bet they don't fit.

Silly question but what do you mean when you say they don’t fit? Are you swapping both top and bottom as well as door part and cupboard part?

There all pretty much the same
Just buy a pair of overlay and fit them.
Don't get bogged down in exact matches. Just change both

So will any 35mm hinge that is full overlay and either 95 or 110 degrees fit? Maybe I'm over thinking things because the Wilko hinges didn't fit. They didn't state on the packaging full or half overlay. I bought them thinking they'd be the most common type.

Yes

A overlay cabinet hinge is designed to fit a 18mm thick cabinet

Hole size is the same
Mounting position are pretty standard.

Just pick a pair and crack on change both sides top and bottom.

Silly question but what do you mean when you say they don’t fit? Are you swapping both top and bottom as well as door part and cupboard part?

When I try to fit them the edge of the door doesn't reach the outside edge of the carcass. I'd say I bought half overlay hinges, it doesn't say so on the packaging though.

Did you use the adjustment screws to move the door over?

They can make a big difference hence why you describe it’s half inset…

No I didn't, perhaps I need to try again.

Just tried again and I definitely have the wrong hinges. When the round part of the hinge slots into the 35mm hole in the door the 2 screw holes do not line up. It's not just a little bit out either.

Different manufacturers. Different screw hole positions.

There only to hold the hinge to the door. What does it matter where they are

I wasn't sure if I wanted to start drilling new holes as there are white plastic bits where the screws go.

Not that easy. The new holes would be too close to the old holes. Inside the hinge was what looked like 2 cams under tension from a spring. Hard to see but looked like either the cams had welded themselves together somehow or the end of the spring was jammed in there somewhere. I hammered a screwdriver in there until the obstruction crumbled away. The door now very nearly closes normally. It'll keep the wife happy for now and buys me a little time. Thanks for your help gents, I'll get over to Screwfix in the next couple of days and buy something else.
