Stuck cheap door handle

Trying to change for a friend.
How do you get these stupid things off?
Removed all screws.
Removed grub screws.
Still won't budge!
There must be an easier way than a hacksaw!

I bet the square bar that connects the handles is corroded, a bit of heat will help.

as above id say its rare but had this only last week in a toilet door

Trouble is the door is so flimsy if I use a crowbar it will wreck the door.

A bit of heat will do it, the handle is likely made from a zinc or ally casting and plated, the bar is steel, a bit of damp and you have the perfect conditions for corrosion, you dont need a blowtorch, a hot air gun will do it, the co efficient of expansion of the handle is far higher than the steel bar so a few degrees rise in temperature should make it grow enough to loosen it.

Nope both stuck solid. Will try some heat as suggested.

You don't, they are circlipped on the back of the plate

Work both the handles against each other - push one down and the other up (with both grubscrews out) and you should be able to break any bonds without damaging the door. One side will come off and you can then pull the square bar through or remove it with the other handle.

Drill out the Center of the handle and punch the square bar out
