no way to rewind the transformer windings? too expensive? if the rest works, would it be worth trying to get another transformer from another machine and adapt as necessary...

I think ive made a tin bashing stump! the pile of logs we got a while back are all now small logs but this bit looks like it might be ideal to help me with my restorations, its about 14 inches diameter
and a 36 inches tall so a nice working height, I think its only scots pine so should take a nice shape in the top, if its no good it will keep us warm in the winter!

Inverter transformer usually never fails.
But these primary lunchboxes full of transistors does because snubber caps and Z diodes quid or get old.
It will gone for spares.
Some MIL style receptacles and some other junk.
It did the job for about 30 years which is also absolutely respectable.

Where did you get that big lump of cast from? Was it expensive?

Long way to go before I can stick tri clamp fittings on my brewing vessels. Maybe I need a proper tig with HF start. A proper current display would be nice too, the knob on this thing is crap.

I made a start on my experimental waste oil burner set up that I will be using on the smelter. Libertated a gas cylinder air recierver, this one has a bolt on valve guard which made easy work of removing the shut off valve.
Filled with water and drilled holes for the filler and pick up pipe.
Welded in the bosses for the filler, pick up pipe and bracket for the air regulator.
and had a play with the jet/igniter assembly.

Made a mild steel m10 thread. Its centre and pilot drilled 3mm, most of its length, so it should be easy to preserve the centre location when I drill it out. Parted off 9mm long.
The plan is, its half the length this is thick. I will flip it over and tig up the thread on the chuck side - may end badly, not tried it before! Then I can drill out this screw down to the weld, retap if needed, mount on spindle, face the other side and drill 4 new, non interfering holes.
