Hi Just to let you know I've never ever welded before in my life, I've just bought a Murex transmig 140 welder but don't know much about it. Ive been on the Murex site but cant find the manual, could anyone point me in the right direction. Ive been told that it uses Argon shield Heavy not sure as its got no gas bottle with it, but the sort of stuff I will be trying to weld will be gates. I really would like a little help also finding a supplier of gas and some idea of the cost. Someone from work as promised to show me how to weld but lives a distance away so it will be a few lessons in our lunch time. Like i say any advice would be great, I've checked out the tutorials on the site and found them quite useful so thanks for that.

Heavy and light are just different gas mixes for different thickness of metal, heavy has more co2 content for better penetration on thicker metal. You could use either or just co2 if not too fussy about spatter.

how much welding will you be going? you can rent from boc or air liquide, theres also a few smaller suppliers that have good prices. hunt around here (i wont post the link cos you will find loads of helpful info in the hunt) and theres plenty of options
