Lydl sharpener

Saw a Parkside sharpener for drills chisels and scissors yesterday, only €15, so thought I would give it a go. Not so interested in the chisel or knife features, but hoping that it will be good for small drills. Has a diament metal wheel (& a spare) with three jigs for the different functions.
Any body else tried one? I will give it a go later today.

I bought one a couple of years ago. It did a reasonable job but very fiddly to get consistency. It's been in the box ever since.

I find they are good at getting the basic geometrry right on very small or very damaged drills, then I finish off hand. make sure you grind each facet equally!

Sort of what I had in mind. For 'honing' I have an ancient Eclipse 39, one of the best buys ever.

I quite like it for sharpening drill bits but useless for chisels as it puts too much of a hollow grind due to the small diameter grinding wheel.

Yep, can see that. I use Japanese water stones for my woodwork edges.

I use it for a couple of chisels I use for scrapers, removing spatter, etc. They don't need a finely honed edge!

Our Mens shed have now got a nice set of veritas diamond plates & honing guide, bought from last years unused funding. We are setting up a sharpening station & running a few classes on how to sharpen a blade correctly.

Update, finally got round to sharpening a few small drills on it. It does the job, but the parts are sloppy and one has to use more judgement than I expected in setting the drill in the clamp, esp in length out The wheel is a bit corse, but at least the angle and back off is taken care of.
Score? 4/10. Value (at €15) 5/10.
I wonder if the wheel will not be good on, say, a 3mm drill, but on bigger ones it does a quick and acceptable job, esp in tidying up if slightly damaged.
If the fit of the interchangable jigs was better, I would mark it much higher. Like an old sloppy lathe, you can get it to do accurate work, but it takes more effort.
