Anyone got any views on these O Ring Pick Tool Set

I normally just bend up something to do the job but with these seal in mind just thought I would buy a dedicated set.



There both on an auction site and cheap as chips I think there about a tenner each

I also have a metal Teng set, just over £10 TM149

Ive got a set of Bergen small picks, they seem ok to me. No reason why the longer ones wouldn't be ok too

Ive got the bergen one.

You can bend the points if youre trying to stop circlips spinnning whilst you lever them off or somthing like that, but in sensible use they are very useful for the money spent.

i paid a fiver less in 2016. i dont think ive totally destroyed any of them. the large ones are fine for poking holes in landrover chassis too.

I have this SP set although I paid more like £25 a few years ago. Very good I must say and the large straight one makes a good awl (did I just confess to that on a public forum?!).

I can’t see your link Jordan but if it’s the Bergen ones about 6” long with red / black handles I bought them for mrs1979 from a steam rally. They do her fine. I have snap on ones and they are good but more. Worth the extra? Probably not.

hers have lasted and they get a bit of abuse but not regular work if you see what I mean.

I have this set too, works well.

The picks will eventually break if you abuse them but that's life. Well worth the money.

Hi all thanks for all the replies I nearly bought a Bergen set on the fleebay but mother forgot luckily, I rang our local motor shop and picked up this Blue Spot set a pound cheaper than the auction site.

That's a result in my books. Just need the other seals now fingers crossed they will be in tomorrow

A few years ago a forum member sold off sets of stainless dentist's picks and I bought one; immensely useful and very similar to most of the tools seen on this discussion - I find them so useful for various tasks.

They can be found at most country fairs, car shows and boot fairs etc for pence, I've got a few.

My dentist is crap. He’s a big fat obnoxious Bulgarian and his assistant is his (Thai?) wife who says nothing but just grins all the time.

This was from a Scots dentist south who was the best dentist I’ve used. I was his patient for years. He is a family friend. He died recently in a climbing accident but his son sent this up via my mum

Anyway. Apologies it’s off topic. I will move to the other thread.

For o rings I use a cable tie cut diagonally to give a long fine point , It wont damage brass regulators or plastic second stage regulators , I have a set of snap on mini pics and as nice as they are , they are expensive for what they are ,,, although Ive a set of bigger hose pics and they have been worth their weight in gold over the years Ive had them , especially on plastic radiators when the hoses stick its easy to break the fittings , a wiz round with a hose tool and a squirt of acf 50 makes life a lot easier , they are even handy for pressing things you cant quite reach , like petrol hose clamps and clips.
