I agree, regardless of her ethnicity she’s competing for us and she’s absolutely brilliant!
How amazing must it be to be an olympian at just 13 years old?!

She also must be some sort of tough girl to carry on after the injuries she sustained last year. As you say, competing for us & got the medal

I was really impressed with Sky Brown that young Scottish girl that picked up a medal in skateboarding, totally unfazed by the whole event and just got on with it.

Scots lasses are like that about most activities......

I was listening to her on the news and thought she sounded Scottish, just listened to her again and she has a bit of an American twang Her dads British.

Yes, that was a very nasty crash which could have ended her career... or worse!

I saw the skating, now someone explain how the Japanese girl who was second, how did she get a high score whilst just going around the park with no skill or tricks?! Are there rules for scoring or do judges just pull a number out of the air?!
The other Japaese who ws 4th was putting the most effort and risk in, really deserved to be a podium or wining it.

I would imagine there's a few sports where the shoes have quite significant structural differences between the right and left.

I've always maintained there is a direct correlation between the size of a female athletes shorts and their success.
This was borne out in the pole vault I was watching at lunch time.
Bronze, Silver and Gold, Longest shorts, regular shorts length shorts, and vaulting in her knickers ...

I felt sorry for the German girl who was leading the Modern Pentathlon.
That was until the Horse Show Jumping round where they pick a horse out randomly that they've never seen.
The horse just didn't like the German girl, she couldn't make it walk forwards never mind jump over a fence!

Horses have amazing powers of observation, intuition and smell.
If they do not like someone, for whatever reason they won't preform.
The horse wins the race, not the rider.

I am furious with the tv coverage. Womens qualifications, eurosport showed the first few bolders then went over to horse jumping gits. I had it recorded and they lied as to the schedule, saying to buy Discovery plus which Ive never heard of, and isnt available on my tv.

Someone told me its on bbc iplayer, but not live. Started it up. It is cut to show just the one GB climber, Shawna Coxey, who in my opinion has no chance of a medal. Imagine that with football, cuts away every time the oposing team has the ball or scores. To make things worse, commentator constantly saying how good she is. Aimed at people never seen it before and do t know who will win.

No spoilers please havent watched the finals yet.

Btw for speed climbing, when you try it gets boring pretty quick. Most climbers dont like it being combined in olympics, wanting a medal oppertunity for each.

I considered paying for a month of Eurosport just to watch it, glad I didn't bother. Crap commentary was to be expected, Epic TV live streamed their own commentary on YouTube.

In 2024, there'll be a medal for boulder/lead and a sperate one for speed.

I'd love to try speed climbing, don't know anywhere that does it though.
