I know a fair number of us are older and more crotchety than your average forum and yes I find myself in that group, but some of us seem to be wandering the lonesome trails of the interweb looking for things to be cross about and then rushing back here to share them, hardly pausing to see if there is any truth in the new found grit in their oyster. I only mention this because surely it would make for a happier forum, and indeed life, if we went looking for things that made us happy. I know, I know, they will be thinner on the ground, and harder to find in this troubled world, but that just makes it more fun when we do find them. Also, if we check if stuffs true, or at least plausible before posting, it will save stuff getting reported to the mods when people start throwing words like 'Dumbass' about the place. I only mention it because I wouldn't want the place to get stuck in a rut..

I read somewhere that the reason we latch onto bad rather than good news harks back psychologically to a time when it was far more important to be aware of bed news …. Like “hey did you know, Alfred told Mungo who told Harold who told Cedric that there’s there’s a pride of sabre toothed tigers approac…. Aaaatrrrgggbbb”Humans are strange creatures in some respects arn't we. There would be little interest in the news bulletins if it was mainly good news. As it it is mainly bad negative stuff 'it sells'. What are we all like

That is why I started "Things that impress me". I can't cope with much more stress and hassle. I am fighting off the 'black dog' currently. Every time I look at my drive and seeing £20k indelibly marked into it, the knife twists.
Life doesn't need to be such hard work, but virtually nobody has any patience and nor will people do what they agree too.

I am always interested in bed news but sadly, 'er indoors ate some wedding cake before I knew it was toxic to feminine interest.
Bad news I take great care to avoid, neither watching mainstream news nor so called 'currect affairs". In fact if I were on my own, the TV would never come out of standby.

No, because I really dont want to set individuals off on one. Its stuff like 'Here's a tool or machine I dont need or understand the need for, it's expensive so the whole thing is stupid.' Rather asking why a thing is dear or what the advantage is, Or just getting on with their life and forgetting about it. Also see 'I dont understand science so its daft' threads that pop up from time to time.Any examples? I seem to be oblivious to all this.....
