Think not a gap bed, though some marking of bed:Just a note, it doesn't say whether or not it is a gap bed, personally I am not a fan and my machine is not. I have never had an issue.
That will be better than new. At a guess, £8k plus or minus a few. This will probably be above your budget...
Harrison M300 – Blue Diamond Machine Tools Ltd
Model: M300 Fully refurbished distance between centers: 40 swing over bed: 13 swing over cross-slide: 10 spindle speeds: 40 to2500 (12) Spindle bore: 1.5 full length screw cutting Tool post New 3 jaw chuck main motor: 415v coolant lightbluediamondmachinetools.co.uk
So the one Edinburgh does not look good?Check this slot head screw on the cross-slide, it sets adjustment of the taper gib, if it's protruding like this one on the Blue Diamond machine it indicates minimal gib/dovetail wear. As those components wear the screw will need to be screwed in. Beware of unscrupulous owners shimming the gib though!

Good advice here, but if you're unable to nip up the gibs (requires a special tool - the owner should have and let you use) and the saddle travels the full length, return it to the chuck and try lifting the apron and observe play then compare to the tailstock end. Mind you it would have to be pretty bad to detect play. That won't affect it in the slightest, you need to tighten the gibs (but not nip them up) and give the carriage a go at full movement and see if it nips up at the tailstock end.
...not sure I can even see the screw, the gib is certainly well in.So the one Edinburgh does not look good?
...If you need a hand loading / transporting etc. just let me know - I've got a trailer and engine hoist over here.

Agreed, I guess what I meant was someone shimming the gib to make a worn cross-slide look unworn simply by shimming and not doing a proper job.I wouldn't call shimming the gib unscrupulous
