Polish tractor driver

Got a call out from the farmer, I think the hooks on the link ends are worn as the grass cutter keeps falling off the tractor, could you cut them off and weld on some new one's I've purchased. Got there and saw this. Apparently he's a fully qualified tractor driver in Poland.

Worn balls? Or cat 2 in cat 3 hooks?

Probably went off the pin fitting them. Cat 3 outer and cat 2 pin size seem hard to get

Same farm but different driver (polish) 160hp duetz tractor with an overloaded trailer full of topsoil. He gets it stuck with one wheel on the hard track and one wheel spinning in the soft mud with the engine reving he engages the diff lock. He never thought of using the 4 wheel drive.

That shaft is 100mm

It could be any brand and cost the earth. Economies of scale. They make only a few of each model (comparative to say your average car) so the parts cost more to produce. We've had stuff like shafts made before for a lot less than a new part but you need to know what grade steel to go for!

Doesn't surprise me. Agco charge 200 quid for a mirror arm... Our 5610 shat it's diff pinion, they 5hink due to not being fit properly at the factory, cost 10k nearly.

Same driver but different machine. A teagle straw chopper he blocks it up and the slip clutch starts slipping so he gets out his spanners and locks the slip clutch up. Restarts the tractor and it stalls so Restarts again and with it reving flat out engages the PTO. Still it keeps me in work.

Owch. Not a single ounce of mechanical sympathy there. The thought of engaging difflock when flat out spinning a wheel makes me shudder... usually it's a dog clutch? At least it is in our masseys...

Around 25 years ago this farm had 15 workers who each had their own tractor they all looked after them washed them greased them and my job was mainly servicing. Some were old boys some young all British they were not paid a great hourly wage but there was unlimited overtime so working 60- 70 hour's a week sometimes 80-90 hours at harvest time ,they could maintain a good standard of living. But when Mr Blair opened the borders to unlimited integration the farmer realised he never needed to pay overtime again. So some retired some left, a 40 hour week was no good if you had a mortgage. And now eastern Europeans is all they employ and the repair bill is horrendous.

You can find numpties of any nationality, and I've had to deal with a lot more UK ones than any other, so I'm pretty sure we don't need to keep mentioning it . .
