picked up a fiat panda about 12 months ago low mileage very clean 59 reg, you could see it had been looked after , after about a month started hearing a wooshy squeaky noise from the cam belt side of the engine, stripped it down belt was just starting to show cracks on it, so fitted a gates belt new adjuster and water pump but it back together started it and the noise was still the louder for a few minuets then settled down to be the same as before so decided to run it for a bit see how it goes, six months later still there and the water pump started leaking ,striped it down again the sealant i bought for the water pump had sort of washed away parts shop sold me the wrong sealant by the way manual says no gasket is fitted, bought the right stuff and another water pump as i dropped the other one and broke one of the impellers , new pump as a gasket so fitted it with the sealant , but it all back together and the noise is still there some times load sometimes quiet its driving me mad , and i need to go on a few hundred mile trip soon, anyone got any idea what it could be.

There's not timing spot on the camshaft pulley they are adjustable and you need to open a window on the clutch bell to see the timing reference on the flywheel but I can be not sincronized.
It's more like you need to replace the belt .
Or the valve caps under the camshaft .
Mileage doesn't matter on these engines they can reach 400.000km

Check the tensioner, pullies and idlers for the drive belt too.
Idlers often squeal when the bearings die.

no idler pulleys, crank pulley, cam pulley adjuster and water pump pulley .

Check the accessory drive belt, start the engine with it removed and see is the noise gone
i have run it with out accessory belt on still the same .

Should the tensioner have a spacer to give the pulley clearance from the block? It’s been a while since I worked on one
now that i don't no, have a manual but doesn't show that thank you.
