I spent part of the afternoon trying to align the tailstock on the ML7 to 'dead centre'.
It's been slightly off, both in the horizontal and vertical planes - low and offset to the left. Not a huge amount but enough so that, when drilling, you could see the tip of small drills [2 > 2.5mm] oscillate when touching the work-piece. I've actually broken one or two........
Using 2 x dead-centres I reckon I've got the offset to the left sorted, but for the vertical alignment, the only way to bring it to the required height is to insert a shim at the front. Anyone know how to do this, the Myford ML7 book is singularly unhelpful...... I haven't tried the 'ruler between centres' method yet, that's for tomorrow.
I'm not building watches or anything critical but it'd be good to have it right. It could be bed wear and if so, I'll just live with it......
