The trailer board is a good idea. If travelling at night (between sunset and sunrise) the marker is supposed to be “illuminated“ I think.

Unfortunately this was the best comprise, often need to carry two passengers quite a distance so the extended cab wasn't an option.

Why is this, height from road?

Only trailers should have triangle reflectors.

That way at night you know you are following a trailer & can plan accordingly.

Me personally, i'dve put some cushions on the roof, and strapped it down through the (rear!) windows + to the front + rear bumper/tow rings.
I brought a 12ft ladder home on the roof of the lexus like that. (About 40 miles)

I guess if you're worried, with some gaffa tape the trailer board reflectors can become square - or vanish completely for the journey.

Ah no need to worry about that its a true pickup with seperate cab the canopy just makes it look like a station wagon.

Chickend out a bit up Glencoe and stuck the mag beacon on after a couple of close shaves with on coming bikers and some traffic getting a bit close for comfort up the rear.
