River chelmer on occasion. Usually make sure there hasn’t been any rain for a few weeks, pesticides and runoff etcDon’t usually dip before July, but a badgering son and max heat tempted me.
Anyone else been wild swimming?View attachment 295158
I should think so .There’s been a couple of wild swimmers in my local river, the Cam, almost daily since early February
me and the mrs spent 4 months in NZ I swam and bathed daily in the rivers and lakes there some were freezing!More inclined to swim in rivers that don't resemble petri dishes of Hepatitis.
I’m in Great Shelford, Trumpington is the next “village” (suburb of Cambridge really) so I know Byrons pool along with Trumpington Meadows well. Unfortunately there are now warning signs up saying no swimming . I always preferred swimming at Grantchester Meadows myself ( famous as the venue of a Pink Floyd gig and album title) . As for skinny dipping ?I should think so .
Your neck of the woods is the spiritual home of wild swimming as practiced by the chaps from the universities in days gone by, and between Trumpington and Grantchester is Byron's Pool where the celebrated Lord Byron and his chums had many a skinny dip.
And I'm currently on a diet to lose a fair few pounds so I can get back into my 1.5mm neoprene wetsuit. Skinny dipping is one thing, as is scuba diving in a 6mm compressed neoprene drysuit, but a 1.5 mm suit that fits like a second skin leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination .

Can't really think of much that would get me swimming again. Always hated it.
I passed everything I could in it (all in 1 day) when in school then after I climbed out I never went swimming again.
I took the kids for a paddle in the sea and got them swimming lessons but I won't go in again by choice.
