i have a few garryson carbide ones and they last years without lubricant and fast speed .used on stainless as wellIt depends what is quick to you.
I only use Garryson Burrs and use them to tidy up steel welds in difficult places so perhaps no more than say 20 mins at a time and haven't burnt one out yet but then I would be surprised if I used them more than a couple of times a month as I hate the splinters. If you are using them continuously all day then I can see how your experience could be different
A good die grinder is a mighty tool , but it needs good burrs , no point in trying to do anything with abrasives or grinding and using cheap and cheerful products , most of them are cheap for a reason.Steel also on wood a few times that seems to wreck them. Are die grinders just crap or is it the burrs
X2 Garysons oh and glove, those little tiny shards when in the skin take ages to get outWe use Grayson ones we use here - they last a long while.
We also use the bigger 8mm size air die grinders for heavy work.
Always wear safety glasses - burrs throw stuff everywhere.
