So... I'm rebuilding an Audi A4 2.0FSI , after a cambelt break and a few trashed valves. (had less than 30k on a genuine VAG belt)
No real problems apart from it is a PITA to take apart.
Problem is, the camshaft "ladder" as they call it - the casting that bolts over the cams to hold it all together, is held down with about 20 TTY single use bolts. only 7nm + 90deg, but apparently not reusable.
And these bolts are unobtainium....
This is an AWA type petrol engine and only used in the A4 for 2 years. trawled the web with no luck Audi parts are not helping. Cant locate the parts, not very helpful and even suggested I may have to buy a complete new head (!!)
No aftermarket kits. If it was a diesel - no problem. if it was a 1.8 petrol, no problem. but 2.0FSI ... no chance.
So what are the options? anyone know where I could buy TTY bolts?
Some tuners (USA) replace TTY with studs/nuts or alternative high tensile bolts. How would you determine a torque setting?
Any ideas welcome.... already invested too much in new valves/belts/gaskets in what is essentially an old car...
