Here is a very versatile hand drill I rediscovered while searching through a couple of tool containers.
Its all metal, made by " JO Manufacturing Company " of South Gate, California. Both the handle and the drill body are adjustable to get into awkward locations if necessary. The handle can be adjusted through 180*, and the body locked in seven different positions.

Its very heavy for its size, but has been useful when used with a screwdriver bit a few times.
Looking at it a little closer in the sunlight this morning, I noticed there is Trade Mark which looks like this......

My Millers Fall Drill.
The paint is as close as you can get with modern paint. With out the expense of paint matching.

Mine has the 3/8" chuck. But you can get a 1/2" versions.

I have a larger version of that it came from the props department of a theater in Oxford. Unfortunately the casting has been cracked in the past but has a pretty good welding repair.

Its one of those tools which comes to the rescue in a rare situation when your scratching your head and thinking, " how am I going to do that ? "

Thanks. Had a look and noticed that on one of the photos the end cap is actually screwed on. I wasn't sure as the one on my example fits seamlessly, and by the weight of it the handle appears to be a single casting. Will have to try some penetrating oil and see if I can spin it off without damaging it. Perhaps there is a treasure inside ?

Found a practical use for the unusual hand drill. It saves time changing to a chamfer bit on my small lathe.
