My thoughts too, the stops are adjustable to be able to limit both axis independently. The black plate holding the runners is under the top plate and the white plate is the bottom one. No heaters I'll probably just scrap it for the steel hex bar to make nuts out of.

I'd like a closer look. Meanwhile, I definitely wouldn't be scrapping it, it has the look of something rather cunning and useful once we've figured it out...

its used to make the mortice joints in wood for the ends as well as the lengths of wood
the round black piece is also for a router
It's from a combination woodworking machine. A chuck to hold a router bit will fit in the end of the planer spindle. This jig pictured will bolt onto the side of the machine with the workpiece clamped on. It is, as gaz says, for cutting mortices or tenons. Probably not worth keeping unless you know what machine it comes from, and even then, few actualy get used as there are much easier ways of cutting mortices or tenons

As Gavlar says, it is a mortising attachment. The most common description for it, if you want to find one or want to sell it is 'horizontal slot mortiser'. The bit cuts parallel to the table. It is a bit like an old-school Festool domino.
It appears that this style of mortiser is more popular in Europe than here. Our standard mortiser is a vertical chisel mortiser.

Hi as said it is a slot mortising attachment for a combination wood working machine, I had one, fitted a reinforced plate that carried a plunge router , made a very efficient independent slot morticer, also used it for milling aluminium, sold on now,
as above it's for a combination machine... I repaired one recently, the lower mount had been broken off, welded back on. Did a belt change and serviced it. from a Lurem C2000..

The one in the photo above is a C2100 (not a C2000), and it is identical - the bent clamping lever and knob shape on the joystick.
